Stranger Things is set to begin production for their fifth and final season in early January 2024. The target start date is rumored to be sometime during the week following the New Year on January 5 or the beginning of the following week on January 8.

The main cast and crew for the hit Netflix series are believed to already be in Atlanta, doing prep work before the cameras start rolling, according to Deadline.he outlet also reported that the actors will be doing table reads in the next few weeks.

Previously, season five was set to begin production earlier this year before plans were abruptly halted due to the WGA strike, which began on May 2. 'They literally called me...10 minutes after the SAG thing on Twitter,' he explained. 'The first [assistant director] is like, "So, get the flight for you on Monday, right? We'll be acting in Atlanta",' he recalled.

Scripts had already been finalized by then, but the Duffer brothers — the creators, executive producers and showrunners behind Stranger Things — opted to postpone production as they wanted writers on set while filming.

Then, production was further delayed by the actors strike. On November 8, SAG-AFTRA and the studios reached a tentative agreement to end the strike on midnight of that day. David Harbour told People about how he received a call the day after about starting production immediately.

Besides Harbour, the original Stranger Things cast also includes Millie Bobby Brown, Winona Ryder, Finn Wolfhard, Gaten Matarazzo, Caleb McLaughlin, Sadie Sink, Noah Schnapp, Natalia Dyer and Charlie Heaton.

Earlier this year, Brown — the 19-year-old star whose claim to fame began when she started portraying Eleven at age 12 — admitted she is ready for Stranger Things to end.
